Are you thinking about Christmas yet? I quickly go from fall decorating to thinking about Christmas. The best time to find new holiday decor is actually in October before it's been picked over. I can also still order from Market and get things in time to decorate for clients. I love using clients family Christmas decor. One of the comments I regularly hear is, "I would never have thought about doing that, I love it!"  Taking their ordinary items and putting them together with a different eye can bring new life to decor.  But, I also love starting from scratch, with a whole new design scheme. I like to interview clients and discuss what look and style they are wanting. Are they wanting traditional red and green, or a trendy all whites look. I also like showing them some ideas. Because even traditional can have so many styles connected with it.

One place for great inspiration is Jennifer Rizzo Holiday House Walk.  Each year she shares several designers homes. Be sure to look at all their amazing homes, but here are a few highlights:

Lets First start with Jennifer Rizzo's gorgeous home.

This tree is full of lots of white. She added flocked branches to her tree to give it a snowy feel.  I love how it still has patches of green tree still showing.  Jennifer's repeats greens and whites throughout her decor and ever so often a hint of red.

Shades of Blue Interiors
This is a classic look -  Red and green with touches of blue and white.

The ribbon is a beautiful pin stripe picking up on the blue and white rug and the classic blue and white ornaments that are on the tree. The ribbon is running up and down in a loose back and forth flow. The ornaments are mostly white and gold. The tree has a beautiful dusting of white snow. Touches of red are throughout the tree with simple clusters of red berries.

 Maison Pax
Nature brought into the home. The simple whites and greens mixed with touches of browns and greys is a beautiful natural look.

The Wicker House Rustic Cottage
This traditional looks stands out with buffalo plaid touches throughout the home. Also, the tree is dusted with white snow and a white scalloped garland sets it apart.

 Zevy Joy Christmas Tour
How about this all white Christmas tree? I love how she places a mix of home made with purchased items - all in white and neutrals. The mix of woods and metals that blend beautifully.

Lucy's beautiful tree is full of snow and more snow! I love how she added all the gold - especially the antlers are my favorite. The white lights and soft green of the tree make it all blend together in a magical Christmas winter wonderland.

Courtney's tree is frosted and with loads of lights making it shine beautifully. She added touches of mercury glass, gold and white.

This tree is full of mercury glass, gold and white ornaments but they are soft and subtle compared to the bold black and white ribbon and presents all around. I love the movement that both the hanging ribbon bows and the antlers give.

Loving our homes in Spring

I'm loving spring so much this year.  Perhaps it's because the last 2 springs I spent in Michigan and it seemed like it took forever for Spring to arrive!  This year being back down south and living in"Spring"hill, Tennessee has been the best! Spring came early and I've loved it.  Plus we are in a new home. Everything is new and fun to see what's in the yard and how to decorate all the new spaces in the house for the seasons.

First time seeing this gorgeous weeping cherry tree in bloom in our back yard.

Then decorating the mantel for Spring and Easter  has been fun. Love my bunnies I think I can keep them out a bit longer since Easter was early this year - right!

I'm preparing a garden outside and many new home improvement projects inside - slowly but surely.  Even with out all the things I want to get done, I'm so enjoying the sunshine and all the blooms!

If you would like some great ideas to spruce up your home for Spring - check out "Love Your Home Challenge" at http://theinspiredroom.net/  Its based on the book called  Love The Home You Have by Melissa Michaels and has so many great tips and ideas - more than just a spring clean.  We are behind on doing the daily challenges but you can always go back and start now!

Pumpkin Topiary

I love all the colors of fall. The Nashville area is beginning to finally look and feel a bit more fallish. Some of my clients went for it even during the heat. It felt a little strange putting up fall things in 90 degree weather.

I've made these sweet pumpkin topiary's  - they are so fun to make and add such a great feature.

They can be added into just about any container - the trick is making sure they have some weigh in the bottom so they do not topple over. Plus on a windy day even the top of these can want to fly - so its best if they have a little bit of a break from the wind.

Here are a few others I've been selling - on Etsy - under ZInterior or in Spring Hill Tennessee at Red Bird Anitques. I've painted these to have a little more interest than just the faux store bought ones.

Here is a painting of a White Pumpkin I did. They are so popular this year.

I love all the season decorating. If you are in the Nashville, Brentwood, Franklin, Spring Hill, Nolensville - or anywhere in the area - and looking for someone to do your seasonal decorating - give me a call. I am still doing fall but beginning to book for Christmas. View my website to contact me - beautifulinteriordesigns.com

Nashville here we come!

Our family is moving to Spring Hill, Tennessee and we are so excited!!! Spring Hill is located just south of Nashville/Franklin.

My sweet husband has been the cause of many of our moves over the years. He is a wonderful pastor and has several times been asked to move in order to help a church in need. Each move has always been a wonderful time of learning and growth for us- including for our children.

Recently, we were talking and thinking about our future plans. We began to talk about wouldn't it be nice to move to a place we want to stay, to put down roots. It began to grow in our hearts and minds. As we talked to overseers in our church affiliations - we heard things like -we can send you to another church - mentioning several cities and situations. But we just kept thinking -no- none of those are right. We began to pray -where does God want us - where do we want to be? Where could we plant a life giving church where there was truly a need? We started talking about Tennessee. It's the place we feel most at home. But we wanted it to be for a purpose. We could go back to Memphis but there are great churches there. Then we thought of the Nashville area, we love it there. There are great churches there too.  We looked on a map and began researching north and south of Nashville. Before long we were more and more drawn to Spring Hill.  We went down and scouted out the land.  Spring Hill started  to stand out to us. Great family community. Just south of the beautiful Franklin area. It turns out Spring Hill is the 14th fasting growing city in the nation.  So guess what that means- they need more churches.  We began to truly get excited about planting a new church.

So after much prayer and planning. We are moving from Holland, Michigan, which we have loved -minus the freezing cold 9 months of winter, it is truly so beautiful and the people here are wonderful (they almost seem southern :-).  We'll be settling into Spring Hill this summer. I'll start up my new interior design business. And we will begin gathering a launch team for our new church, which will begin in February 2016.

So if you live in the Spring Hill area (I'll service the Nashville metro area) and need an interior designer - OR if you would like to know more about our church plant, please feel free to email me or give me a call.  The church will be called Summit Church and you should be able to Google it sometime in July.

I love new beginning and all that God has in store.
